Returning Officers are appointed by the Commission to conduct an election for a particular district or region. They are responsible for many aspects of the election process, including the management of polling places and polling place staff, candidate nominations and supervising the election in their district or region on polling day. Returning Officers are a useful source of information during an election.
All elections conducted by the Commission will have an appointed Returning Officer, including local government and other elections.
The Returning Officer is often the best person to contact with initial enquiries.
