The candidate nomination period opens today, Thursday 3 September 2020, for elections at three local governments where Commissioners have been in place for varying periods.
Elections for all positions on these councils are being conducted by the Electoral Commission on behalf of the City of Perth, Town of Port Headland and Shire of Perenjori.
In each case the nomination period will close at 4.00pm Thursday 10 September and election day is 17 October 2020. Each election is being conducted as a full postal ballot, meaning every person on the electoral roll (at the time of roll close on 28 August 2020) will be posted their ballot papers.
While voting in local government elections is not compulsory in WA, eligible citizens are encouraged to have their say in these important local elections.
