Vote counting update – week commencing Monday 22 March
For the Legislative Assembly, until now the focus has been on processing and conducting progressive indicative counts of polling place ordinary and absent votes and the numerous postal and early votes, until such time that all accepted ballot papers are available for the full distribution of preferences counts by district Returning Officers.
Full distribution counts of all ballot papers are planned for each day this week from Monday 22 to Sunday 28 March at the Beaufort Street Processing Centre. It is likely that eight or nine districts will be counted each day.
Districts planned for Monday and Tuesday are as follows:
Monday 22 March: Carine, Churchlands Collie -Preston; Hillarys; North West Central; Roe and Warren-Blackwood.
Tuesday 23 March: Cannington; Warnbro; Jandakot; Kimberley; Kingsley; Mandurah; Scarborough; Victoria Park.
For the Legislative Council, nearly all ordinary region ballot papers received from polling places were counted at the Murray Street Processing Centre last week. From Monday 22 March, the focus will shift to absent, early and postal ballot papers for each of the six regions. The counting of region ballot papers is likely to continue into the following week. Ballot papers marked below the line will be progressively scanned at Fuji Xerox in Bassendean.
