Working at the Commission

Permanent opportunities

The Commission advertises all permanent full-time and part-time job vacancies on the WA Government Jobs Board.

Casual opportunities

At a State general election the Commission employs casual staff to work at polling places across Western Australia on polling day. In addition, casual staff are employed at various early voting locations or on mobile polling teams before polling day, and at the Processing Centres in the Perth CBD after polling day.

To register your interest to work on Election Day or for mobile polling please register under Employment Opportunities. Registrations will be open on 19 November 2020.

Employment conditions and payment rates for State Election Polling Staff can be reviewed in the 2021 SGE Polling Staff Guide.

To register your interest to work at an Early Voting Centre or at one of the Count Centres in the CBD, please submit your details with our external recruitment provider Randstad.

Internship Program

To help minimise the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the public and our staff, the WAEC has decided not to offer internships for 2020.

Commission Expectations

The Commission expects all of its employees, including casual staff, to act ethically, honestly, impartially, courteously and with due care in the performance of their duties in accordance with the Code of Conduct.
