Postal voting

Postal voting packages will be sent to electors who have submitted a completed and correct postal vote application form. Packages are being sent out daily on weekdays with out of state and regional areas being the initial priority.

Applications for postal voting are now closed. They closed at 6pm on Wednesday 10 March 2021.

  • Track your postal vote application

If you are expecting a postal vote package that hasn’t arrived you can vote in person instead at an Early Voting Centre or polling place on 13 March. If you do vote in person and still receive a postal vote package subsequently in the mail please destroy the postal voting package.

Even though applications for postal votes close on 10 March, electors can still post back their voting packages right up until polling day (Saturday 13 March).

The Electoral Commission will accept packages posted on or before polling day until 9:00am on the Thursday following polling day (18 March).

Australia Post are giving voting packages a priority and many should arrive in coming days.

Anyone concerned about return post can hand-deliver their postal packages to any Early Voting Centre up until Friday, or to any polling place on Election Day.

The WA Electoral Commission has also arranged with Australia Post to have ballot boxes located in a number of Post Shops, Licenced Post Offices and Community Postal Agents in regional WA to ensure postal votes are conveyed directly to the WAEC’s processing centre before postal votes close.

The Post Shops, Licenced Post Offices and Community Postal Agents listed below will have ballot boxes on site from now until closing time on Friday:

Broome
Carnarvon
Derby
Exmouth
Kalbarri
Karratha

Norseman
Port Hedland
Bridgetown
Capel

Electors can hand their completed postal vote packages to the staff at these outlets who will place them in the ballot box to keep them secure. The ballot boxes will subsequently be delivered directly to the WAEC processing centre in Perth.

Although completed postal packages posted on or before polling day can be accepted via mail until 9:00am on the Thursday following polling day (18 March), having postal votes able to be lodged at Australia Post outlets provides additional certainty for regional postal electors.
