About postal voting

When voting by post in the 2025 State Election, you will receive ballot papers in the mail before election day (Saturday 8 March). Postal voting packages start being sent out from late February, after the electoral roll closes and ballot papers are printed.

Your completed postal ballots must be posted, or hand delivered to a polling place, before 6pm Saturday 8 March 2025 (election day). Remember to sign and date the declaration envelope. Completed postal ballots must be received by the WA Electoral Commission no later than 9am Thursday 13 March 2025. Please allow for Australia Post delivery times. Postal voting packages received after this time will not be counted.

To vote by post you must apply. You don’t need a special reason to vote by post.

Sharing your information with political parties

If your application for a postal vote is approved, the WA Electoral Commission is required by legislation (section 100F of the Electoral Act 1907) to share your name and enrolled address with political parties and/or candidates. Details of silent electors will not be shared.

If you do not want your details shared with parties and/or candidates, you may wish to consider voting by other methods.

Other ways to vote

  • Vote in person on election day, Saturday 8 March 2025
  • Vote early in person, from 24 February 2025

Vote by post at every election

In some circumstances, you may be eligible to apply to be a general postal voter. This means ballot papers are automatically sent to you by post after an election has been announced and ballot papers have been printed.
