Changes to voting in the Legislative Council (upper house)
In 2025 there are changes to the way voting is done for the Legislative Council (upper house). To vote in the upper house (large ballot paper), first decide whether you want to vote ‘above’ or ‘below’ the thick line on the ballot paper. Then mark the ballot paper:
-
If you’re voting above the line: number one or more squares
-
If you’re voting below the line: number 20 or more squares. You don’t have to number all the squares if you don’t want to.
