8 days to get on the electoral roll

Media Release Date
Tuesday, 9 August, 2022

Residents of Carnarvon, Exmouth, Wiluna, Kalbarri, Meekatharra, Denham, Tom Price and Onslow including surrounding areas and remote communities only have 8 days to enrol or update their contact details.

A by-election has been called for the district of North West Central. The State member of parliament has resigned and an election must be held to replace them.

Electoral Commissioner Robert Kennedy reminded electors “to make sure you can vote for a new member of parliament you have to be on the electoral roll.”

“The deadline is 6pm Wednesday 17 August 2022.”

“The easiest way to apply to be added to the electoral roll or update your details if you have recently moved is to visit elections.wa.gov.au or call 13 63 06.”

If you’ve moved into the north west recently you may still be enrolled in the city or town where you last lived. This means you may miss out on being able to pick your state member of parliament.

To make sure you don’t miss out, contact the Electoral Commission at elections.wa.gov.au and choose “check your enrolment”.

If you don’t have access to the internet you can call 13 63 06.

The Electoral Commissioner is available for interview. Please contact media@waec.wa.gov.au if you have questions or wish to arrange an interview.
