By-Election Expected for Secret Harbour Electoral District

A by-election is expected to be held in the electoral district of Secret Harbour to fill a vacancy in the Legislative Assembly (Lower House) following retirement of Hon Paul Papalia CSC MLA, former Minister for Emergency Services, Corrective Services, Defence Industries, Veterans, and Racing and Gaming.

The electoral district of Secret Harbour includes the suburbs of Golden Bay, Karnup, Madora Bay, Port Kennedy, Secret Harbour, Singleton and a small section of Warnbro.

The timing of the by-election, including the issue of the Writ, is a matter for the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Once the Writ is received, the Western Australian Electoral Commission will administer the election in accordance with the Electoral Act 1907.

Official election dates will not be available until the Writ is issued. The Writ will set out key dates, including the close of rolls, close of nominations, polling day and the return of the Writ. These details will be published on the WAEC website as soon as they are available.
