Thousands of Secret Harbour electors are expected to cast their vote in this Saturday’s by-election, with voting compulsory for all eligible electors in the district.
Those who have not yet voted can still vote early on Friday, 28 August at the Secret Harbour Early Polling Place, or attend one of the nine polling places open across the district on polling day, Saturday, 29 August.
To make their vote count, electors must complete the ballot paper correctly by numbering every box from 1 to 16 in the order of their choice.
WA Electoral Commissioner Dennis O’Reilly said eligible voters should plan ahead and take care when completing their ballot paper.
“Voting is one of the most important ways we participate in our democracy, and I thank the people of Secret Harbour for taking part in this by-election,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“With 16 candidates on the ballot paper, it may take a little longer than usual to complete, so I encourage people to take their time and number every box from 1 to 16 in their order of preference to ensure their vote can be counted.”
“If you are sending through a postal vote, please remember it must be completed and posted back to us by 6pm on polling day, Saturday 29 August.”
Polling places will be open from 8am to 6pm on Saturday 29 August located at:

- Port Kennedy • Port Kennedy Primary School - 1 La Manche Avenue, Port Kennedy
- Secret Harbour Early Polling Place - 7 Sunlight Drive, Port Kennedy (also open for polling day)
- Secret Harbour Primary School - 178 Maratea Parade, Secret Harbour
- Comet Bay College - 2 Allatoona Avenue, Secret Harbour
- Golden Bay Primary School - 9 Thundelarra Drive, Golden Bay
- Singleton Primary School - Naval Avenue, Singleton
- Madora Bay Primary School - 60 Huntington Street, Madora Bay
- Coastal Lakes College - 203 Badgerup Avenue, Lakelands
