The deadline to receive postal votes is approaching for the September Local Government extraordinary elections; the Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) must receive postal votes by 6:00pm on 24 September.
Voters must ensure their completed postal vote is received by the deadline for it to be included in the count. The WAEC wishes to remind all voters to:
- Carefully follow the instructions on their ballot paper.
- Sign the elector’s certificate.
- Check Australia Post delivery times to ensure their vote arrives before the deadline.
The WAEC is encouraging voters to mail their completed postal votes this week to ensure they are received in time. After this date, it’s recommended votershand deliver completed postal votes to their Local Government office. Votes received after 6pm on election day cannot be included in the count.
“The decisions made by local governments affect the places where we live, work and connect every day. Every vote helps shape the future of your local area,” said Dennis O’Reilly, WA Electoral Commissioner.
“I encourage voters to take the time to learn about their local candidates, consider their priorities and plans for the community, and make an informed choice when casting a vote.”
