Enrolment for 16 year olds

If you are 16 years old you can provisionally enrol to vote. This means that when you turn 18 you will automatically be placed on the electoral roll and will be ready to vote at the next election.

When you enrol to vote you will be enrolled for Federal, State and local government elections. 

Why should you enrol to vote?

By enrolling to vote you are giving yourself the opportunity to choose who represents you in the Australian Parliament to make laws and decisions about the things that affect your life every day. As a young voter you have the opportunity to help shape the future and bring a diverse point of view on issues that affect your generation.

How to enrol 

You have the choice to:

To enrol to vote you will need one of the below identifications: 
•    Learners permit 
•    Medicare number 
•    Passport number 

If you do not have these, you can ask someone who is already on the electoral roll to be your witness and confirm your identity.
