Local Government Extraordinary Elections were held on 26 and 28 March for Local Councils that did not have enough candidate nominations to fill all vacancies during the 2025 Local Government Elections, or who have experienced a vacancy since those elections.

Court of Disputed Returns
On 10th April the Court of Disputed Returns issued orders in relation to the 2025 Local Government Election Derby-West Kimberley.
An extract of the relevant order is below:
1. Pursuant to regulation 85(1)(b) of the Local Government (Elections) Regulations 1997 (WA), there are declarations that:
a) Mr Lachie Carracher ought to have been declared elected in the place of Ms Val Ross;
b) Ms Val Ross ought to have been declared elected in the place of Mr Laurie Shaw;
c) Mr Laurie Shaw ought to have been declared elected in the place of Ms Kerissa O'Meara;
d) Ms Kerissa O'Meara ought to have been declared elected in the place of Ms Leah Umbagai; and
e) Ms Leah Umbagai ought to have been declared elected in the place of Mr Eliot Money.
2. Pursuant to regulation 85(1)(c) of the Local Government (Elections) Regulations 1997 (WA), a declaration that:
a) Ms Leah Umbagai's term of office be a term of four years.
3. Pursuant to regulation 85(1)(ca) of the Local Government (Elections) Regulations 1997 (WA), the declaration under Sch 4.1A clause 19 of the Local Government Act 1995 (WA) be changed by declaring that:
a) the first unelected candidate be Ms Rona Charles; and
b) the second unelected candidate be Ms Kyra Edwards, together with a declaration under section 4.81(5)(a) of the Local Government Act 1995 (WA) to replace the original declaration made under Sch 4.1A clause 19 of the Local Government Act 1995 (WA).
