Postal voting packs are in the mail for the six Local Governments heading to extraordinary elections this September. This is a postal election; electors enrolled to vote in the following districts will receive a voting pack by mid-September:
- Shire of Cue
- City of Mandurah - Town Ward
- Shire of Northam - East Ward
- Shire of Northampton
- City of Rockingham - Rockingham-Safety Bay Ward
- City of South Perth - Como and Moresby Ward
WA Electoral Commissioner Dennis O'Reilly said postal vote packs are expected to arrive within the next fortnight.
“When your postal voting pack arrives, please take the time to learn about the candidates before completing your ballot and return it via the reply-paid envelope. To ensure your vote is counted, your completed postal vote must be received by 6:00pm on 24 September, so please allow enough time for delivery,” he said.
Extraordinary elections are held to fill vacancies between ordinary elections. Candidate details for each Local Government extraordinary election are available on our website.
“While voting for the Secret Harbour By-election has concluded, voters in the City of Rockingham-Safety Bay Ward are encouraged to vote again in this election. If you are unsure if this applies to you, please visit our website,” said Commissioner O’Reilly.
Electors who have not received their postal vote pack by mid-September should contact their local government or the Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC).
The deadline for the WAEC to receive postal packs is by 6:00pm on 24 September. The WAEC recommends voters post their ballot papers by Thursday 16 September to allow for delivery time. To confirm which Local Government ward you are enrolled in, please visit: Check Your Enrolment.
