The Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) has launched the statewide 2025 State Election advertising campaign, 'Your vote goes a long way'.

This campaign, which runs across television, radio, social media and outdoor platforms, aims to inspire the more than 1.8 million eligible Western Australian electors to make their voices heard in the upcoming State General Election on 8 March.

The campaign is designed to reach all communities across WA, focusing on the importance of having your say in the democratic process.

The WA Electoral Commission office will be closed from 2pm Friday, 20 December, and will reopen on Thursday, 2 January 2025.

Are you eligible to vote in the South Australian district of Black by-election?

If you’re in Western Australia, you can cast your vote in this election at the WA Electoral Commission's Perth office: Level 2, 66 St Georges Terrace, Perth.

Voting is open from Monday 11 November - Friday 15 November on weekdays at 8.30 am to 4.30 pm.

The 8 March 2025 State election will occur in a new era after laws came into effect today reshaping Western Australia’s electoral rules.

The significant changes offer more transparency about political expenditure in the lead-up to the election with any donations over $2,600 to be published on the Commission’s website.  

From 1 July 2024, legislative changes regarding the disclosure of political contributions, electoral expenditure and for political participants in an election come into effect as per the Electoral Amendment (Finance and Other Matters) Act 2023. 
 
The changes provide transparency and accountability of donations to political parties and candidates to ensure public confidence in the WA election process.
 
The changes affect:
•    political entities
•    disclosure of political contributions of more than $2,600

Tasmanian electors can visit the Western Australian Electoral Commission office in Perth to cast their vote in the Legislative Council elections.

Pre-poll (early) voting for the Tasmanian Legislative Council upper house elections for the divisions of Elwick, Hobart and Prosser is available weekdays from Wednesday 17 April until Friday 3 May from 8.30am – 4.30pm at WA Electoral Commission, level 2, 66 St Georges Tce, Perth.

UPDATE 3:30pm 

Thanks to the efforts of the WA Electoral Commission’s delivery partner, the counting of ballot papers and declaration of results for the Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley extraordinary local government election will go ahead tonight as previously planned.

Counting will commence after polls close at 6:00 pm and results will be declared after the count has been completed.
